Four family members were shot in a Mount Joy apartment by 21-year-old Ricky Shannon on Friday, Nov. 8, as Daily Voice previously reported.
Shannon allegedly drove nearly two hours after receiving a Protection From Abuse order to commit the attack, the victims’ family shared with Daily Voice. One PFA was filed against his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Gabriela "Gabby" Morgan, on Nov. 5, and the teen filed a PFA against him on Nov. 7, the police explained.
Gabby, her mom, Kimberly Day-Miller, her stepdad, Brian Miller, and her younger sister, Jennifer Day, were inside the Millers' Mount Joy home when Shannon shot up and soon started shooting around 4:15 a.m., according to relatives and the police.
Kim was taken to the hospital after the shooting but ultimately was pronounced dead at 5:55 a.m. Gabby sustained multiple gunshot wounds before being forced into Shannon’s truck, according to the family. Brian and Jennifer survived but now face a long road to recovery after being shot and having witnessed the traumatic event. Both were released from the hospital on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Gabby had recently moved into her family’s apartment following domestic violence issues with Shannon, her family said. Shannon is accused of driving nearly two hours to confront her after receiving the PFA earlier that night. “This was clearly premeditated,” a family representative said, adding that Shannon “had almost two hours to think about what he was going to do.”
A GoFundMe campaign has been established to help cover funeral expenses and aid Brian and Jennifer in their recovery. The family has requested privacy and asks that all inquiries be directed through their designated spokesperson, who confirmed that the family will not answer additional questions.
